has anyone else come across the outback steakhouse radio ad that uses that of montreal song - the one that has "let's pretend we're in antarctica" - but changes the words to make it outback steakhouse?

this is the most bloggy thing that happened to me today. i'm also considering this story as my automatic response for "what have you been up to?"

this morning as i was getting in the shower, i spotted a cockroach way high up on the wall, possibly waiting to jump on me during my otherwise soothing shower. so i went downstairs, got the raid and sprayed it. the water was already running, so the little guy fell down into the water and i watched it try to swim. after about half a minute, it stopped. i knew it was dead, because i saw its teeny tiny bowels release. as i watched the mini-poops float toward the drain i thought, "at least it was funny."

man, i guess i'm going to have to prepare something in advance to say to people when they ask me what's up with me or how i've been. i'm always caught off guard and my slow stumbly answer gives away that i really haven't done anything i think is spectacular today. that's just a downer for everyone involved. and maybe it's just me, but it seems like every time i'm in an uncomfortable situation or around people i'm just fairly acquainted with, that's what's thrown my way. how the hell am i supposed to make things interesting when people are always real-ing it up.

so, watch for it because i'm gonna be saying the same thing every time out from now on.

somebody just gave away a jeep on craigslist. a whole, working mid-'90s jeep. i mean, i'm not crazy about jeeps or manual transmissions, but i feel like i DEFINITELY could've pimped out that vehicle more than whoever landed it. or at the very least the cash made from selling it wouldve been good.

parading around [21 May 2006|10:40am]
[ mood | giggly ]

my sister graduating from high school makes me feel old. so does going on vacation with my girlfriend, and listening to the same music i listened to when i graduated high school. i can feel it becoming dated, but new music that gets me jazzed can be pretty few and far between. i spend a good amount of time combing thru old things for nostalgia's sake - see djcrazya's myspace, the continued existence of my geocitiespage, trying to reconcile my photo archive - so i wonder what i'll fondly remember about the spring of 2006 when i listened to juxtapozed with u and rock and roll part three every day. i guess it just won't be associated so much with a soundtrack. don't get me wrong, i wouldn't have things any other way. i just wonder if this is how my dad felt when steve miller's hit parade stopped.

on the upside, i have the internet again, and the avalanche might be better than illinois!

also, let's hear it for tha bracelets and falken's maze!

i'm building a family tree:
The largest multiple execution in the history of Nevada occurred on November 17, 1905 when four men, Thomas F. Gorman, Al Linderman, Fred Reidt, and John P. Sevener, were executed using double gallows for the murder of a transient they threw off a moving train while they pilfered the box cars.

i've already managed to delete this post. what a nightmare.

i wanted to be able to comment on certain peoples' journals.

so that's my excuse. also if i could take advantage of getting to read peoples' deep friends only shit that would be a plus. i'm not sure i know how to make those connections.
